Santa Maria Coghinas and surroundings

The town is located in the historic region of Anglona, on the west bank of the Coghinas River and at the foot of the hills that delimit the fertile alluvial valley. Its origin is attested at the beginning of this millennium under the judgment of Torres, its most ancient archaeological remains are the Castle of Casteldoria and the Romanesque temple of the church of Our Lady of Graces, called the Madonna delle Grazie. Former part of the town of Sedini in 1960 became part of the new community founded in Valledoria and in 1983 it became autonomous. The main economic activity is represented by intensive agriculture, favored by the presence of vast alluvial plains. Of great importance are also the Casteldoria spas: these are hot springs that flow out onto the bed of the Coghinas River, at a temperature of over 80 degrees.
