Spoleto and surroundings

Spoleto, while also showing evident influences from the Roman era in the urban fabric, maintains an ancient - medieval aspect substantially intact, due to the period when it was first flourishing Longobard Duchy, and then an important center of the Papal State.At the most ancient origins of Spoleto belong the Arch of Druso of the 23rd century (at the Romanesque Church of Sant'Ansano), the Roman Theater, whose construction dates back to the early years of the Empire, in addition to the early Christian basilica of the 4th century of San Salvatore (about 1.2 km North).
