Rome is the city with the highest concentration of historical and architectural heritage in the world; its historical center bordered by the perimeter of the Aurelian walls, superimposed with testimonies of almost three millennia, is an expression of the historical, artistic and cultural heritage of the Western European world and, in 1980, together with the extraterritorial properties of the Holy See in the city and the basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls, has been included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Rome, the heart of Catholic Christianity, is the only city in the world to host a foreign state, the enclave of Vatican City : for this reason it is often called the capital of two states. More than 16% of the world's cultural heritage is in Rome (70% in all of Italy). With about 52,000 hectares of agricultural areas, Rome is the greenest city in Europe . In addition to the historic villas there are numerous other green areas, as well as land dedicated to agriculture in the most peripheral areas. The protected areas cover a total of 40,000 hectares. Rome is the largest agricultural community in Europe, with an agricultural area of 517 km², about 40% of the total municipal area. In addition to the municipal coat of arms, they are the Capitoline wolf, a bronze statue depicting the legendary she-wolf who nursed the twins Romulus and Remus; the Colosseum, the largest amphitheater in the Roman world, recognized in 2007 as one of the seven wonders of the modern world (unique in Europe); the Dome, the dome of St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican, which dominates the whole city and symbolizes the Christian world. The symbol of the city during antiquity was the imperial eagle, military effigy; during the Middle Ages it was the lion, animal emblem of supremacy.
