The Forio municipality is located in the west, stretching over hills at the foot of the Epomos and overlooking the entire western side of the island of Ischia. The central point of happy Western life is the square with its bars. A particularly beautiful view is from the dock near the harbor. Being the municipality of Forio located to the west of the island, from here you can enjoy the most beautiful sunsets of the sun, eg. from the Church of the Soccorso. One of the most beautiful beaches on Isle of Ischia, Citara, rich in thermal springs, is named after a temple dedicated to the goddess Venus Citarea. Where was once the temple, in the 1960's, a spa park was built, the Poseidon Gardens. With its pools at different temperatures, well-kept gardens and a private beach, it is the largest spa park on Ischia Island. Various restaurants, a wine grotto hollowed directly into the mountains, boutiques, newspaper kiosks and a bar make it easy to spend time. The gardens, with their beautiful flower beds, invite you to continue walking. The symbol of Forio is the sanctuary of the "Madonna del Soccorso" which rises to the sea and was finished in the 18th century. on a 16th century religious building The simplicity of the church recalls Greek, Byzantine and Moorish elements. On days when the air is clearer you can see from the church square the Ventotene Islands, Ponza, and the coast to the Circeo. In Forio, just above Citara Bay, you can find the "Ravino Gardens" that house several succulent plants and Cactus . The owner and Giuseppe D'ambra has collected around the world several fat plants that form its garden today, which is also open to the public. In the garden are exposed several sculptures of Ischiatani artists, there is also a refreshment place. In summer evening, Jazz music concerts, slides projection, several shows and sometimes even a show on succulent plants
