Excursions
The property offers its guests the opportunity to admire the marvelous sea caves, of which the Capo di Leuca is rich, placing CUSTOMERS directly in contact with a specialized agency that will propose custom and accessible itineraries to anyone with expert guides. The caves of Leuca's chief, as well as suggesting visitors with paradisiacal scenery and reflexes of unrepeatable light, also constitute a cultural itinerary as they represent a precious testimony of the presence of man in prehistoric times. For naturalistic enthusiasts we point out that these impervious and wild caves represent a haven for flora and fauna of remarkable environmental importance, such as the very rare Salento fiordaliso and the pilgrim falcon
Fishing
For the enthusiasts we offer the opportunity to make fishing lines, always through other structures equipped for this. The structure provides all the equipment needed to carry coastal trails (look, palamit, sea pike, curl). Specialized personnel will accompany the customers in this wonderful experience with boats equipped for these types of fishing.
Hunting
The Capo di S.Maria di Leuca has always been a reference point for all migrants. Queens, teddybirds, lynxes, daggers and bumps have always been hunted by the enthusiasts of the place. Today you can get permission from the ATC for short stays.
Santa Maria di Leuca and its surroundings
Santa Maria di Leuca represents the most extreme point of Italy's heel, between Punta Ristora and Punta Meliso. It is also called Finibus Terrae, because in antiquity it was considered the end of the earth, its protector was the Goddess Minerva, since the times of Christianity has become the Madonna, in his honor was built an important sanctuary. For its beauty in the past it was called by the name of Leukos, or the city illuminated by the Sun. It is very impressive is the monumental Sea Lighthouse, built in 1864 and recently restored, 47 meters high, in its vicinity you can admire a spectacular view where the gaze is lost in the infinite of the many colors that the sea takes. On particularly clear days it is easy to see the mountains of Calabria, Albania and the island of Corfu. To see the beautiful Basilica Santa Maria de Finibus Terrae built in 1755, the Church of Christ the King and the famous Sanctuary, with the Colonna (1694), which reminds Saint Peter's visit to the town, since then Leuca has become an important center for Christianity and over the centuries were visited by three Pontiffs: in 343 by Pope Julius I for the consecration of the Sanctuary, in 710 by Pope Constantine and more recently on June 14, 2008 by Pope Benedict XVI. To admire the staircase of 284 steps where we find the spectacular Monumental Waterfall owned by the EAP (Autonomous Aqueduct of Puglia) and the Monolithic Roman Column. Around the promenade you can see beautiful Arabian and Greek-Roman villas. Do not miss a boat ride to contemplate the 14 marine caves lining the entire coast, surely the most impressive of Salento, thanks to the succession of imposing rocky cliffs overlooking the sea alternating with white sandy bays and a water from green and blue at the point where the two seas meet. Places to visit: The Sanctuary, the Lighthouse, the Roman Column, Punta Ristola, the Tourist Port, the Eighteenth Century Villas, The Grottoes Marine, Monumental Waterfall.
