Pimonte and surroundings

Pimonte presents a rich landscape potential due to its particular geographic conformation which includes several areas: from a foothill and a hill to a mountain area full of paths, some of which survive on the trail of ancient mule tracks. These lead into areas of fascinating natural charm and of great historical interest, such as the ridge of Monte Pendolo up to the Belvedere. Among the wooded and arboreal characteristics, particularly attractive are chestnut and oak trees along with other species typical of the Mediterranean Macchia. The charm of the rural landscapes is enriched with fireflies and votive flames that in particular recurrences recall ancestral and remote traditions.

Ancient mule tracks
They represent a typical landscape resource of the mountain and foothills of Pimonte, with paths that unravel towards the neighboring territories and lead to places characterized by luxuriant arboreal vegetation and in particular by the presence of mixed chestnuts and Neapolitan alders, along with orchards and beeches surrounded by unspoiled nature of woods, of which Pimonte is rich. Along the paths are visible the anthropic interventions with the capture of water, the characteristic dry walls, steps in limestone that testify to the care of the settlers for their land.

The "Valle Lavatoio"
Historical place in Franche di Pimonte, so-called due to the presence of the wash-houses, surrounded by a rich vegetation. The area is very dear to the Pimontese for the strong bond it has with local and popular traditions, and for the historical memory that it preserves: the valley is characterized by plant and tree peculiarities belonging to the Mediterranean Macchia, with tall trees. such as oaks, pines and many medicinal herbs. There are several events celebrated on the spot, such as the re-enactment of the Holy Christmas Night, with scenic representations that recall a past rural civilization and the nativity placed in an old mill that stands on the ancient stream. The locality was an important crossroads; from here many of the paths that connected the various castles of the Amalfi Republic depart.

Castle of Pino
The area where the remains of the Castello di Pimonte are located also houses an adjacent natural and vegetal space that paints the entire landscape in a picturesque way. The remains of the old chapels and the farmhouses that stood around the arch of Pino are visible in the rich vegetation.
Resicco
It is a characteristic town that is 1.5 Km from the city center; offers magnificent glimpses of incomparable beauty, of profound peace and tranquility. The climate that derives from its natural and particular position is pure and the air is healthy and vivifying.
Monte Pendolo
Of particular beauty and richness of landscape, it is distinguished by a height of at least 618 m above sea level. The hill also known as Monte Croce as well as offering a panoramic look of great effect, preserves historical artifacts of great interest and is therefore a destination for hikers and visitors. The Belvedere of Monte Pendolo allows you to visit the ruins of the Convent through a path, which develops partly along a rolling road and then continue to the ridge of Monte or through a beautiful staircase with steps in limestone that starts from the ancient village called Murisco or Muriscolo.
Monte Coppola
This height, before the creation of the state road to Agerola, was the door of the Monti Lattari. Along this route, commercial exchanges developed between Pimonte and Castellammare. The mountain hosted the important feast of Monte Coppola, a meeting point for the people of the agro stabiese who, on Tuesday in Albis, gathered in Tuoro and in the Quisisana woods to celebrate until late at night with the rhythm of the drum.
