Rhodes and the surrounding area

Rhodes is the largest island in the Dodecanese and one of the most beautiful islands in Greece, located near Tilos and Chalki to the north and Karpathos to the west. Rhodes is one of the most touristic islands in Greece such as the island of Kos, Crete, Santorini, Mykonos and Corfu. Rhodes is one of the most popular islands in Greece. From ancient times to the present day Rhodes attracts travelers and tourists for its many natural beauties. With more than 300 days of sunshine per year, Rhodes has been dubbed the "pearl of the Aegean Sea", sung by poets as "Rose Island" and "Sun Bride." Rodes attracts the attention of thousands of tourists coming from Worldwide. In the white-painted and blue-lined houses, impressive public buildings and the green of parks and nature, Rhodes contrasts with the old town's view, with buildings and ruins of the ancient splendor of the island during Greek, Roman and Byzantine. Of course, the medieval city of the Knights of San Giovanni di Gerusalemme, surrounded by tall walls and in good condition, with its castles and palaces, Byzantine period buildings and Turkish architecture. The city of Rhodes lies in the northern part of the island. The new city is characterized by modern buildings, with wide streets, shops, squares and monuments, and quaint quarters combining neo-classical houses, Byzantine churches and Turkish mosques. The tourist industry has stimulated the growth of many infrastructure, hotels modern, nightclubs, taverns, restaurants and many shopping malls. Many interesting sites to visit in Rhodes. Of particular interest are the municipal gardens, as well as the Rhodes Museum, which, among the finds of great interest, offers the famous Venus of Rhodes. A short excursion outside the capital will allow you to reach the ancient city of Lindos with its spectacular Temple of Athena and the acropolis that sprout on a promontory overlooking the sea. A rocky massif of the triangular shape beneath which stands the beautiful city, where you are lost in a maze of alleys and narrow streets. Lindos remembers the style of a Cycladic island, despite being in the Dodecanese. What to visit in Rhodes: windmills, Aghios Nikolaos tower in Mandraki harbor, and Rodini park. There are also hundreds of touristic shopping shops awaiting visitors, with their great heritage of hidden treasures.
Wonderful taverns with sea views, and not to miss a mule back tour for those who do not want to walk to visit the other attractions offered by the city of Rhodes.
mills of rodeTra these ruins of the ancient city on the hill overlooking the capital, in Monte Smith, the Myrat Reis Mosque and the Souleiman Mosque, the Hydrobiological Institute, and the many churches, Agios Fragiskos, Panagia Nikis, the True Cross , Panagia Kastrou, Profitis Ilias and Evangelistira, a few kilometers outside the city, where you can admire the beautiful frescoes by the Greek artist Kondoglou. Interested in the medieval part of the town, dominated by the high walls surrounding it, with the impressive Palazzo del Great Master, a memory of the glorious and fascinating past of the city. All to visit the museums of Rhodes, of extreme interest. The Archaeological Museum, housed in the ancient Cavalieri Hospital, which includes sculptures, vases and various artefacts of considerable value, and the folklore museum which exhibits an interesting collection of traditional costumes and everyday items. By entering the port of Mandraki you can see the two pillars that identify the ancient position of the base of the famous Colosseum of Rhodes. The city of Rhodes is divided into two parts: the "old town" surrounded by a double row of high walls and the "new city" , which, in addition to the differences in architecture and town planning, also have a distinct personality.
However, they both have a distinctive mark of welcome to tourists.

Speriamo presto!
