Conditions Bussolengo
Bussolengo is about 12 kilometers from Verona. Compared to the capital it is westward to Lake Garda. The territory of the municipality is predominantly flat, and is lying on the river Adige. There are many sights of interest including:
Church of San Salvar - IX century
To the west and just outside the village, in the newly elevated position is the church of San Salvar. The oldest of Bussolengo, built using the ancient technique of raising walls with river stones, visible at points where there is no external plaster, and with old-fashioned stones. This masonry technique, which consists in arranging rocks made of rocks made of bacon huts and cement wedges, is typical of the area between Mount Baldo and Lake Garda. Numerous other signs of the venerable age of the church of San Salvar can be found both in the structure, thanks to the insertion of stones of an earlier age, and in the furnishings, which has as probable basis an aquasantaer then removed.
Valentine's Day - 14th century
Valentine's Day Church
The St. Valentine's Church is the most famous of the country, being also the sacred threshold of the village for those who came from the Molinara road that from Villafranca di Verona and Sommacampagna carried peasants to the mills of the Adige; in the last stretch, however, the road that the Croatians carried to the country was called "Valentine's Day". In 1391 the bishop of Verona, Giacomo de Rossi, gave the Discipline permission to restore it and make it a seat of the confraternity with an annex to a hospital for the care of travelers and pilgrims. It was subsequently adorned with two series of frescoes, one interior and one exterior, narrating the story of Valentine's Day, which was added to a much older antique fresco depicting the crucifixion of Christ. In 1595 comes the first news of the existence of a tomb and of exteriors outside the church. In 1634 Marcus Giustiniani, Chancellor of the bishop, will find an altar dedicated to San Macario, close to the great fresco under the south porch, and in 1714 under the leadership of Faustino Montresor, the altar altogether built of marble depicting passion of Christ on the left side of the tall altar. The frescoes contained here were made by artists from the Giotto school.
