The castle and gardens, which were built after the Turkish siege of 1696, were basically redesigned under Maria Teresa after 1743. For most of the year, the Habsburgs resided in the countless rooms that an enlarged imperial family needed next to boardrooms. Schönbrunn Palace has 1441 rooms, 45 of which can be visited. The interior is decorated in rococo style (mostly white surfaces with ornaments in 14-carat gold leaf) and includes Bohemian crystal chandeliers and majolica stoves. The living rooms and work rooms of Emperor Franz Joseph (see photo) are simple and simple; the reception rooms and guest rooms are more magnificent. Mozart played in the Hall of Mirrors at Schönbrunn Palace as a six-year-old child prodigy. Maria Teresa held her secret lectures with State Chancellor Prince Kaunitz in the Chinese Round Cabinet. In the Vieux Lacque room, Napoleon conferred. In the 1918 Chinese Blue Hall, Emperor Charles I signed his renouncement to the government (end of the monarchy). The Millions Room, clad in rosewood and decorated with precious miniatures from India and Persia, is one of the most beautiful Rococo rooms ever. The Congress of Vienna met in the Great Gallery in 1814/15; today it is used for state receptions on special occasions.

Schönbrunn Christmas Market: around 80 exhibitors from Austria and neighboring countries present their craft during Advent. A varied assortment of beautifully decorated huts captivates with its love for detail and high quality. Christmas sounds come from the central stage. The Schönbrunn Palace New Year's market takes place directly after the Christmas market. Since 2012, the market has the ability to embellish itself with the "Certificate of Excellence"; issued by tripadvisor. Guests of the HB1 hotel are particularly convenient to achieve this goal. No less impressive is a visit to the large park, designed by the most famous garden architects of Europe. In addition to the artistic flower beds of broths and the imposing fountains, the area also houses a labyrinth, a palm house and the so-called Crown Prince's Garden with idyllic arches and precious citrus plants. Don't miss a ride on the panoramic train to Gloriette. From this panoramic terrace above the castle and the garden you have a fascinating view of Vienna. Today the magnificent building houses the Café Gloriette. Here you will find delicious desserts with a splendid view of Vienna. And on Sunday morning there is brunch with live music from classical to jazz. The Gloriette was built in 1775 and the inscription in the central section still reminds us of it today: & quot; JOSEPHO II. AUGUSTO ET MARIA THERESIA IMPERANTIB. MDCCLXXV "; (erected in 1775 under the reign of Emperor Joseph and Empress Maria Teresa). At that time the beautiful views were appreciated and a panoramic terrace 20 meters high (accessible only through a spiral staircase) was created.

The Schönbrunn Zoo in Vienna is the oldest zoo in the world and has already been voted the best zoo in Europe three times. Pandababy, elephant children and many other rare animals attract more than two million visitors each year. In the summer of 1752 the emperor Francesco Stefano I of Lorena, husband of Maria Teresa, led his noble guests for the first time in the new menagerie of the Schönbrunn Palace park. Since then, the oldest zoo in the world has existed in Vienna. Already in 1906 in Schönbrunn a sensation was successful: for the first time in the world an African elephant born in captivity was born in Vienna. In 2007 the next world premiere follows: for the first time a pandaby named Fu Long was born in Schönbrunn, naturally conceived in the zoo. The second bear child was born in August 2010. The Schönbrunn Zoo is today one of the most modern and best zoos in the world. The animal enclosures are particularly spacious and close to nature. More than 500 animal species live here, from the Siberian tiger to hippopotamus and water rhinos. The highlights are the large house in the rainforest, the large South American area and the ORANG. erie, which is the new home of the Viennese orangutans. In spring 2010, the nature educational trail was opened. Every year new extensive facilities and shelters for animals are added. However, the historical charm of the zoo is preserved.
